April 3 School Committee Meeting
The next school committee meeting is scheduled for April 3 at 5:30 p.m. There is no executive session. See the full agenda here. You can watch it via zoom or Youtube Live. Spanish translation is available on zoom.
Interestingly, there’s not a single new item on the agenda from any of the school committee members.
Here’s what is on it:
Report of the Superintendent.
The report of the superintendent for this meeting is “Future Ready Schools Part 1” and will be presented by Assistant Superintendent Dr. Marie Morse and Director of Educational Technology/Principal of Wawecus School Sarah Kyriasiz. The stated objective of the report is “The Worcester School Committee will learn about the progress of the Vision of a Learner (VOL) Implementation Plan.”
Paraeducator Job Description.
There are proposed revised job descriptions for paraeducators that came from a paraeducator subcommittee.
Grants.
Up for approval is a grant for $100k for the nutrition department and a $7k grant for “Supporting Arts & Cultural Vitality Teams”
Curriculum Approval.
A request to approve the Amplify Science curriculum for elementary schools.
A request to approve the Reveal Math curriculum for 7-12 grades.
To approve the purchase of StudySync for four schools.
Reports Back from Administration.
A report on discrimination and bullying towards LGBTQ+ students and next steps for the district to continue to provide support for these communities.
A list of funding and MOUs with community agencies and a report on relationships with community partners.
Item Cleanup.
A request from the school committee clerk Kristi Turgeon to file fifteen items. Turgeon wrote that the Office is trying to stay up to date with records after several leadership and item tracking system changes.
