October 23 School Committee Meeting.
The next school committee meeting is scheduled for October 23, and is the last before the school committee election on November 4. Executive session starts at 5 p.m. and the general meeting is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m., but could be later depending on how long the executive session takes. See the full agenda here. Report of the Superintendent.
This meeting’s report is on District Accountability Data, which is a complicated formula the state uses to measure a district’s growth towards state-dictated goals, including MCAS.
Other items.
Up for approval is a three year lease of the gym at the YMCA for Jacob Hiatt Magnet School.
Also up for approval are a variety of grants to purchase books for multilingual learners at Columbus Park, Goddard and Jacob Hiatt; to support travel for professional development for the multilingual department, and for gardens at Rice Square and Canterbury schools.
An item from Sue Mailman (at-large) requesting a report on what sports use what fields in Worcester and how the district ensures alignment with Title IX.
An item from Vanessa Alvarez (district B) requesting a report on current support systems and resources available to school adjustment counselors.
