I'm happy Rob won, as a D2 resident for more than 8 years, it's been disheartening trying to have earnest conversations and make genuine requests to Candy only to have them at best ignored and at worst, met with eyerolls and disdain. Could Etel run for At-Large? I think she resonates with many voters who are not in her district - it might be a way for her to get back in.
I'm not sure if I'm typically a glass-half-full person, mostly I feel an overwhelming sense of dread and am unsure how I and we will get through this next few years of the Trump administration. But I am sharing this quote of a quote from Heather Cox-Richardson's Nov 4 (1:49am Nov 5) article - as it shines a humorous and hopeful light on the entirety of the Nov. 4 elections. "Tonight, legal scholar John Pfaff wrote: 'Every race. It's basically been every race. Governors. Mayors. Long-held [Republican] dog-catchers. School boards. Water boards. Flipped a dungeon master in a rural Iowa D&D club. State senators. State reps. A janitor in Duluth. State justices. Three [Republican] Uber drivers. Just everything.'"
It appears the nation is trying to shrug off this evil presence, and I hope it will eventually gain momentum here at home. Rob winning D2, Khrystian getting more votes than Toomey - are positive starts.
Etel as an at large councilor would be nice, I'd love to have the opportunity to vote for her. My big take away is that if I'm still in Worcester next election (might flee this corrupt crank town) we need a brigade of door knockers to just plain turn out voters. I'm sure few people on my east side three decker street voted.
I know Etel’s loss is a huge step backwards, but could the bullshit charges against her for “assaulting” an ICE officer help her next election when they are eventually dropped (because there’s no way it moves forward, which is why Duffy had to scream at the chief to even get charges pressed in the first place)?
Wednesday noon and still processing the results. The winners are all there is.
Etel's loss casts a dark shadow over any cause to celebrate. Very. Fucking. Dark. Rob's D2 victory gives him a mandate but he can't carry three times his weight on the council floor. I trust Khrystian and Louie will rise to the occasion.
Of course, there must be a lighter, unserious take on things. Election of Fresolo, Mitra, Rosen, Rivera and Economou must have sent shares of WCT3K soaring. Imagine Satya and Jose arguing in the chamber over what Tim Murray told them to say and do.
Other than Rob's huge win, this is mostly just a huge bummer and a shift in the wrong direction. But can we just talk for a minute about Colorio getting the boot? This was the pleasantly surprising news of the evening for me, but also given the rightward slide of the at-large seats, I'm left scratching my head and wondering how we pulled this off. As I recall, a few election cycles ago she earned the second most votes in the mayoral race. Where did her base go?

This one hurts bad but I am so happy that D2 got it done
