But please don’t refer to me as “a nice old lady. “ It is demeaning, and while I am sure that you meant no harm, I just don’t think of myself that way. Jeri- I won't speak for Bill but I apologize to you directly for any role I played in that. Your comments were really powerful and I genuinely appreciated them, and as someone who hopes to still be around and fighting injustice when I'm 72 I can definitely see where you're coming from.
I believe you and I totally respect your dedication to writing about “the important stuff!” We met you at Cordellas this past spring. We were the people with the pugs, including Sophie, who was in a wheelchair.

I meant it as a way to draw a distinction between the stereotypical ‘activist type’ trope in the general public imagination. It wasn’t an effort to demean but in retrospect I totally understand how it was demeaning. I take ownership of that and I’m sorry! It was rude and unnecessary. I feel terrible. And what you said / how you said it was amazing! That was the reason we pulled your comment. Thank you so much for speaking and you’ll never hear me use those words again!
Appreciate your work, making all of this easily accessible and digestible. It helps me stay in the game when everything feels really frustrating and hopeless. Knowing there are a lot of people out there in our city that feel the same way and are still fighting the good fight is a really important thing to me.
Thanks so much! I think it's fair to say it does the same thing for Bill and I (it both helps us digest and frankly keep our spirits up), it means a lot to know it's helpful to other people in that way.
