My grandmother does a similar tax program in another town and she loves it honestly. She waters the plants at the senior center/putters around and it gives her a social outlet.
I would imagine/hope that's what this program entails, and I think that social outlet is great. I just wish we would actually relieve property taxes for seniors, and your grandma and others could just go putter around the senior center entirely cause they want to.
This program also worries me because what happens if you get 50 hours watering plants at the Senior Center and then you get sick or take a fall? What about seniors who can't get out of the house to do this kind of work?
While I'm on one anyway, a thing we were promised in 2006 by Gov. Deval Patrick's campaign was property tax reform all around. 20 years later we don't have it. Property tax is one of the most regressive taxes there is in that it is assessed without any consideration of your ability to pay it. I'd like to see it cut for everyone actually, and made up for with less regressive taxes on income and capital gains for high-earners.
Re: Bill’s roast set, I have no specific jokes but you should do the entire thing in George Russell voice.
Lmao gotta have at least one George Russell bit that’s for sure

Wow! Talk about being out touch with (i would imagine) with most of Worcester voters and their financial situations...Candy's gotta go!!
This was a great episode...had me laughing along throughout at the pure ridiculousness of it all. And a laugh was sorely needed so thank you. 🙏
