Thinking about the 16-year-old daughter and the baby now presumably being in DCF custody- I read somewhere (totally unverified, but I’ve seen it twice) that DCF is supplying citizenship status to ICE for children in their care. Has anyone else seen that floating around?
Hey, a note to Ellen (our interviewee) hoping that maybe she sees this: I'm so sorry I had to miss the interview, but I'm so happy Bill got to talk to you.
I wanted to say that what I have had to say about Civilian Review Boards for a long time has been a less articulate version of what you said, which is that the devil is in the details. I've seen more bad CRBs than good ones, but you gave a fantastic list of the details that make up a good one.
CRBs are something I initially supported. This is an issue I changed my mind on as I worked at the ACLU, because I got to see what places like Cambridge came up with.
My worry is always that a bad CRB becomes another rubber stamp of "civilian approval". They can be designed not to be that and you were right to call for that level of specificity.
ICE will benefit from WPD delivering DA Early's "Crisis Bags" in support of their warrantless kidnappings. YOU. CANNOT. MAKE. THIS. SHIT. UP.
On our list to talk about next week!
