Re: Twitter, I have gone “read only” except for occasional DM’s, locked down my profile, deleted all past posts and likes, winnowed my follows down to a half dozen or so generic news accounts, and use the List function to keep up with Worcester accounts — combined with avoiding the “For You” tab, this makes the service just about tolerable as a news aggregator and a way to follow the few people I like who still post there regularly.
