Yo if you boys havent watched o agente secreto its on netflix rn, wagner moura political thriller ab brazil in 77 - more largely about what its like to live in full fascism. Really hit for me idk why, cant imagine any reason it would.
If you saw it and want some supplemental reading theres a great reddit thread spelling out some brazil subtleties i wouldnt have picked up on here: https://www.reddit.com/r/oscarrace/s/28z1JD1lWe
And idk if you listen to Panic World but they had a nice episode on it which is what spurred me to watch it.
Also if anyone gives you shit for ripping on italians Im first generation italian and I say you got a pass (i am, of course, also irish lmao)
The old Kelley Square caused a lot of sideswipe collisions, and a statistically high number of collisions involving bicycles. There were NO pedestrian fatalities, except for one when a semi knocked down a lightpole. Because all driving decisions had to be negotiated by eye contact, cars could not get going fast enough to kill you. You're right about Vernon Street being a failure because of the wretched 290 ramps.
Yeah I also had to bike through the old square a few times and it was terrifying. The light pole accident I remembered because it was indirectly caused by a firefighter I know. He was driving a ladder truck to a fire call, the 18 wheeler yielded, hit the pole, and then the pole fell on the person.

I've been dying to see it, a bunch of people I trust on these matters said it was the best movie they saw last year
