I'm one listener who uses pocket casts. It's pretty decent! I used to use Google podcasts which was discontinued. Google tried to transition everyone over to YouTube but I wanted an alternative and ended up using pocket casts.

I have a commitment that means I can’t ever go to council meetings, I really appreciate your coverage of this. I’ve also been watchinb Thu’s Instagram videos of the speakers. Anyway you can list out how the vote went down with each councilor? Did Jenny Pacillo vote for or against? Thanks!

Yes!

So first of all, no one actually got to vote up or down on the merits of the resolution technically. This was not a vote to approve or not approve the resolution, it was a vote to file it theoretically on the very selective use of Rule 11, which dictates what is under Council purview.

That said, the six people who voted in favor of filing it/throwing it in the garbage were: Bergman, Toomey, Mero-Carlson, Colorio, Russell, and Mayor Petty. The other five, including Jenny, voted not to do that.

Voting on an identical resolution to "condemn Hamas" in 2023, the vote was 8-2-1. Thu and Etel voted no, and the person who abstained from the vote was Sarai Rivera, who held the seat that Ojeja now holds. I mention this because George Russell has apparently been telling constituents he abstained from that vote, and that is a lie. He voted yes. It's on the public record.

Thanks! After I posted this comment, I read Bill’s newsletter and he had listed the vote. I’ve been following Jenny’s votes since I’m in her district. I’m so heartened to see the organized turnout even if it was futile for the vote. But I don’t think it was futile over all because so many people got to hear those testimonies and comments. Definitely looking into the coalition and hoping to show up however I can.

Thanks for reading and listening, and please do continue to watch Jenny's votes. Speaking as myself, I like Jenny as a person but I'm not sure we can count on her to automatically take the progressive votes we want (especially as pertains to the police) so that's a great place for constituent pressure to be applied.
