Another great podcast! Regarding salaries, the evidence suggests the city is here to serve the police, not the other way around. Paid detail sums are an obscenity. Nothing will change short of a revolt. Wake the fuck up, Worcester!
FYI, the vote to "freeze" the Specialized Stretch Code was held by Councilor King. The "freeze" has conveniently gone from twelve months to twenty. Just another favor for the development and landlord community arranged by Tim Murray through his trusty surrogate Morris Bergman. The obvious removes the need for transparency. Similar to past council votes, the "yeas" were there on the morning of November 5th, 2025. And dig this from the City Manager in his letter of support for the recent measure, "It is important to note that this should not be characterized as an opt-out or abandoning our sustainability goals. It would be a decision to establish a new effective date for implementing the enforcement of the Specialized Stretch Code, and the recommended date would be Jan. 1, 2028." A steaming pile of horse shit. Name another place on the planet Batista could earn upwards of $350K per.
Take a moment to bring up the group photo of the Worcester City Council. Just look at 'em. I'm happy to have Khrystian, Rob and Luis in the fold. Just imagine, the others are the gatekeepers of the second largest city in New England.
I'm happy to have all three of those people on the Council as well, but also it's kinda like what can they do besides be on the right side of a lot of 8-3 vote losses.
I'm not sure Batista is even basically employable outside of this environment.

Thanks Steve!
