Quick note from the editor: A bunch of new subscribers since the last post, welcome and thank you!
What you’re reading here is another of the four regular columns that make up Worcester Sucks—along with mine, Aislinn Doyle’s school coverage at WPS in Brief and Liz Goodfellow’s Worcester Speaks.
Between the four, we have the basic bones of real alt-weekly, and we’re trying hard resurect that mummy all the time! Upgrading to a paid subscription brings us an inch closer. We’re 100 percent reader funded, and your $5 a month is an investment in our continued journalistic necromancy.
A merch order is just as well, and the new shirts up on the store are going fast!
Thank you for supporting us and allowing us to build this thing. I’m very proud of it.

Now for some Bad Advice…
Looking for a New Car
Dear Shaun,
Should I buy a new car?
-New Car Curious
Dear New Car Curious,
It really is hard picking a car, isn’t it? You could go with a pre-owned model that is still fairly new and has definitely been on the road but will the cheaper option. Or, you could buy something brand new, something that no one has ever truly driven and it can be yours to use and slowly destroy.
Then, there are all the different kinds. There are American made, foreign cars, gas powered, electric, a hybrid of those two, or even a diesel engine! There are all types of sizes, shapes, and colors. Two-wheel drive, four-wheel drive, driving assistance, and even fully automated cars. You can just pick a truck, or a van, or an SUV. Hell, a motorcycle could be your pick.
To some, this may seem overwhelming. Too many options breeds indecision. Think of it this way: I know that most likely as I was listing all of your different options you were ticking off the options you didn’t like. You may have even nodded your head at some that you did like. You may already have an idea of a car in your head. But that is where I will stop you.
There is a beauty in making a choice. In whittling down all of your options until you have gotten to the one that makes sense for you. Now, obviously if you have a partner or a family, you have to take their ideas into the decision-making process and maybe you get outvoted. But that’s okay because your voice was heard. You let your partner or your family know where you stood on certain features of the car you were interested in. They took your opinions and added that to their overall decision.
Maybe, after hearing you out, they didn’t fully hop on board with the idea of a minivan because they really wanted a hybrid SUV. They didn’t think the minivan would get good gas mileage. But, they decided to get fold-down third-row seating because they liked that idea so much.
That’s the beauty of discussion and of compromise. The back and forth of ideas among like-minded individuals to decide on what is best for the future ahead. If you allow those ideas that are new, recycled, or reworked to be discussed, other ideas grow on top of those and then you can decide on who and what is best.
Either that or the Democratic Party… I mean Carvana can just pick for you. Either way seems pretty chill.
NEWS
Busy ass week, y’all. Thursday I am in the basement of the Charles Playhouse in Boston. The name of it is regrettable, Lil Chuck, but I’ve been told the room itself is awesome for comedy. The show is at 9 p.m. and tickets are $10. You can grab them here.
Then Friday is Worcester’s favorite show! Hot Dog! at the historic George’s Coney Island. You know the drill, comics spin the wheel to find out what their set is. The show is FREE. Don’t miss it.
Finally, Saturday we have a great show at Heartland Barber in Millbury. The space is so cool and we’ve had a ton of fun at the previous shows. Show is at 8 p.m. and tickets are moving real fast, so get them here.
