"The core idea, flawed to begin with, is that better documentation and data collection will curb police abuses." Schools also believe that more data and more tech will solve systemic inequities, purchasing anything tech-related they are pitched, then pushing that onto teachers and students. All the while research is being released that tech-centric education continues to widen existing inequities within the system.... like you said, institutions must self-sustain. Technofascism is the modern mechanism for continuing to not solve inherent problems, while appearing to be cutting edge.

Unrelated: currently reading a sobering book on the imminent climate collapse that no one wants to acknowledge is happening. Highly recommend "Pedagogies of Collapse"

Yeah we're really walking down a dead end. This book looks super interesting as far as education textbooks go!! Seems like it would pair well with 'everything for everyone' - a super out there awesome book I want to revisit somehow in this newsletter. The surveillance capitalism regime will bring us straight to climate collapse maintaining plausible deniability the whole time

It’s been a rough year, but if Turtleboy ends up going to jail that’ll be at least one bright spot.
