"It’s an astonishing reply that centers reputation over accountability and closes ranks." Regrettably, Ms. Doyle, this reader is hardly astonished. And the response from the Mayor's Chief of Staff is right out of the City Hall Playbook. Demeaning garbage.

As most are aware, when MB was not reappointed as Superintendent by the School Committee, she promptly sought a position on that very School Committee. Hardly showing "respect and restraint", Mayor Petty.

Totally agree that local government is very important as an example (preferably positive) to its citizens. It is disheartening to read what you not only experienced, but the response from the Mayor’s Office which was so evasive and inappropriate. Please do not give up trying to make things better for all students in the WPS. That is what your children will ultimately remember and be inspired by.

Thank you for these words. Truly. 💜

Thank you. Sure miss “outsider”Superintendent Monarrez who treated all students and parents with respect. Thanks to the three committee members you mentioned who share that trait.

Wow. Gaslighting to the max. And extending the condescending. Thank you for nailing it and bringing this series of exchanges to our attention.

Thank you, Aislinn, for your courage in speaking out. I'm sure it wasn't easy. And thanks too to Gary Rosen who seems to be the only publicly elected official who has any integrity in this sad situation. When parents contact elected officials with a concern or even criticism, it should be heard with care, humility and gratitude that parents have enough trust in them to bring their concerns. Instead both Aislinn and the parent mentioned were met with condescension, defensiveness, and disrespect.

Thank you Aislynn. I am a retired system wide elementary music educator and I served as a union representative and an officer for most of my 25 year tenure.

FORMER Superintendent BINIENDA IS A FORMER SUPERINTENDENT for many reasons ! She is extremely condescending. And Mayor Petty is so full of himself he can’t be objective about anything !!

Thank you for all of this, Aislinn. For getting involved, for involving your children (side note: all public meetings should make accommodations for children so that parents can attend, but especially meetings concerning schools!), for speaking publicly about what you see, and for sharing your observations and the responses you received. None of this surprises me, or should surprise anyone. We've all know snide, sarcastic tone, and have heard what she thinks of our children and their parents. And we've all seen the mayor take one cowardly position after another.

Somebody doesn’t want to give somebody else any reason at all to think about running for a different office than the one they currently hold.
