The connection between the growing number of unhoused and the unacceptable state of public housing in the city (and likely the whole state) absolutely needs to be looked into a lot more than it has.

I’m not sure it will do anything, but I’m making a bimonthly appt for myself to write city council about this. As a homeowner in a “nice” part of town, I find it disgusting that my fellow citizens are being treated like this. We are all a month or few months away from losing our own homes. Even those of us who feel secure.

As a homeowner who, in the past, has been long-term unemployed and has had the bank start foreclosure proceedings against me twice (and I've gotten violation notices from the city for unregistered vehicles), I really don't feel like it's me versus homeless people. I could be homeless myself at virtually any time.

Great piece. And as far as 25 Queen St is concerned, capacity is currently closer the 150 per night and the majority of people sleep on mats on the floor literally inches from the person next to them. How does the QOL, or anyone for that matter, think this is a step up from living in a tent?
