Comments seems like a tough one to solve. Maybe a What's App group for subscribers? Meta will probably make that horrible in the near future, but it seems to be a method that can work for the time being.
And here's to the plateau being a blip on the way to bigger numbers and brighter days.
Thank you for the work you do, Bill! I've been following since last year's municipal election guide and it's been extremely helpful as an entry point into understanding Worcester politics since moving here. My fiancee and I love this city, and we appreciate being able to connect to the local issues we can support!
When you move to Ghost, we will follow. We subscribe to you, not to Substack. Like another reader, I read this in my e-mail client. The chat feature is nice, but not absolutely necessary. I like the suggestion of a WA group as a possibility. I'm not on social media except for LinkedIn and WA, which I use for a number of reasons: work, hobby groups, family.
I appreciate that and I think almost all WS readers are gunna feel pretty much the same. Good thing is you wouldn’t have to do anything really, they still come right to your email and the payment app is the same. WA could work! I worry it would get ridiculous if there were too many people or even just a few people being super active. I think an email listserv is also a good option. Sorta old school but I’m in a few and they’re very effective for keeping serious and useful convos in discrete threads and organized by category
I would support a move from Substack! The way I interact with the newsletter is usually reading it in my email client, sometimes clicking on it. I have the Substack app and don’t use it at all bc the social media component of it annoys me. I listen to the pod on Apple Podcasts with the link through your Patreon I think. Just my own experience there as food for thought. Thanks for what yall are doing!
14 journalists, Bill! I'm not dead yet.

Thank you that’s the number one goal and ideal outcome!
